Archival research for the lesbian-queer spaces on Berlin officially took off today.  I’ve been slow to get around the Spinnboden Lesben Archiv (SLA), transitioning my mind from the design and focus of the Lesbian Herstory Archives (LHA) to make way for a greater focus on publications over organizational records.  The LHA hosts over 2,300 organization records; the SLA a total of 161.  However, publications equally abound in both and unlike the US (surely 100s by my eyeing them to my left, right, and behind me at the SLA and I have similar visuals of the LHA), there tends to be an increase in publications over the years, rather than a precipitous decline.  Photos to come!
